Earth-moving machinery — Collision warning and avoidance — Part 1: General requirements |
This document provides terminology and general guidance on the principles of collision warning and collision avoidance systems for:
— earth moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165,
— mobile underground mining machinery as defined in ISO 19296, and
— road construction machinery as defined in ISO 22242.
This document provides general requirements for detection of objects, warnings to the operator, automatic intervention control to avoid collision, and test procedures. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the other parts of the ISO 21815 series, which provide detailed guidance and requirements for collision warning and collision avoidance systems and determining risk areas and risk levels. The specific requirements and definitions for particular types of machines are defined in the use case parts of the ISO 21815 series.
This document covers collision avoidance by speed reduction or motion inhibit: it does not cover avoidance by automatic manoeuvring (e.g. steering) away from the intended object.
The systems described in this document are only intended to assist the operator of the machine. The responsibility for safe operation of the machine remains with the operator of the machine.
This document is not applicable to collision warning and collision avoidance systems installed to the machine before the date of its publication.

Earth-moving machinery — Collision warning and avoidance — Part 2: On-board J1939 communication interface |
This document describes the on-board J1939 communication interface between a connected device and mobile machines for use in earth-moving, mining and road construction applications to enable interventional collision avoidance actions defined in ISO 21815-1 based on the SAE J1939 protocol. This interface is intended for use by a collision avoidance system (CAS) device integrated independently from the original machine providing intervention signals to slow down, stop or prevent motion of the machine. The protocol defined by this document can also be used to provide input information for a collision warning system (CWS).
This document is not intended for plug-and-play implementation of CAS or CWS on the machine. Additional details not fully described in this document can be negotiated by the CAS or CWS manufacturer and the machine manufacturer to enable functionality.
This document does not preclude the possibility of the machine manufacturer or the CxD manufacturer developing alternative on-board communication interfaces.

Earth-moving machinery — Wheeled loader coupler for attachments |
ISO 23727:2009 provides for the interchangeability of attachments on wheeled loaders by establishing common dimensions and clearances for a coupler. It is applicable to wheeled loaders as defined in ISO 6165 with an operating mass of between 8 000 kg and 17 500 kg. Alternative coupler designs and dimensions are permitted, but might not provide broad interchangeability of attachments.
ISO 23727:2009 is not intended for, but may be applicable to, other wheeled loaders, skid steer loaders or backhoe loaders if interchangeability of common attachments is desired. It does not require the fitting of a coupler and attachments can be directly mounted to the lifting linkage without the use of one.

Packaging and the environment — Processes for chemical recovery |
ISO 16218:2013 covers used packaging, although the processes described are not specific for used packaging and can be used for recovery of other materials of same type. Processes for chemical recovery of used packaging are applicable for plastic packaging or biomass-based packaging, which might be interpreted in two different ways:
processes to recover valuable chemical substances by chemical treatment of used packaging, for example, to recover monomers of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) by hydrolysis, glycolysis or methanolysis, to recover oil by catalytic reaction or pyrolysis, to recover valuable gases such as hydrogen by gasification, to recover coke, oil and gasses by cokefaction;
processes to directly substitute used packaging for natural resources without chemical pretreatment, for example, flakes of used plastic packaging may use in blast furnace in the place of coke as a reducing agent.

Packaging material recycling — Report on substances and materials which may impede recycling |
ISO/TR 17098:2013 provides a non-exhaustive overview of substances and materials that can cause a sustained impediment to recycling activities and is intended to assist in the assessment requirements set out in ISO 18604.
It describes substances or materials which cause problems or inhibit the recycling process, or which have a negative influence on the quality of recycled material, where technical solutions are not expected to be developed in the near future.
These examples are, however, qualified by the fact that the recycling operations can vary regionally, that technology is constantly changing, and that the use to which the recycled material is put will also determine whether the presence of such substances and materials is a problem.

Supply chain applications of RFID — Freight containers |
ISO 17363:2007 defines the usage of read/write radio-frequency identification technology (RFID) cargo shipment-specific tags on freight containers for supply chain management purposes (shipment tags). It defines the air-interface communications, a common set of required data structures, and a commonly organized set of optional data requirements (through common syntax and semantics).
It contains recommendations about a containerized cargo supply chain RFID system, based on shipment tags; specific recommendations about mandatory non-reprogrammable information on the shipment tag; and specific recommendations about optional, re-programmable information on the shipment tag.
Identified within ISO 17363:2007 are the air-interface and communication parameters for active radio-frequency identification communications using ISO/IEC 18000-7.
ISO 17363:2007 is applicable to freight containers as defined in ISO 668 and to freight containers that are not defined by other ISO standards. It complements ISO 10374 for permanent container license-plate tags.
It fully describes cargo shipment-specific tags.
It does not address smart container technologies affixed to, or inside, freight containers (e.g. sensors) for supply chain management purposes.

Packaging — Accessible design — Ease of opening |
ISO 17480:2015 specifies requirements and recommendations for the accessible design for packaging with a focus on ease of opening. It applies to reclosable and non-reclosable consumer packaging without using any other mechanical means. This International Standard covers the design aspects addressing openability including opening location, opening methods, as well as evaluation techniques, both instrumented and user-based. This International Standard is primarily for designers, developers, and evaluators of packaging and will also be useful for other disciplines.
For products regulated for safety or other reasons (e.g. toxic or dangerous goods and substances, medicinal products, and medical devices), those regulations take precedence.

Packaging and the environment — Organic recycling |
ISO 18606:2013 specifies procedures and requirements for packaging that are suitable for organic recycling. Packaging is considered as recoverable by organic recycling only if all the individual components meet the requirements.
Therefore, packaging is not considered recoverable by organic recycling if only some of the components meet the requirements of ISO 18606:2013. However, if the components can be easily, physically separated before disposal, then the physically separated components can be individually considered for organic recycling.
ISO 18606:2013 is applicable to organic recycling of used packaging but does not address regulations regarding the recoverability of any residual packaged goods.
ISO 18606:2013 does not provide information on requirements for the biodegradability of used packaging which ends up in the soil environment as litter, because littering is not considered as a recovery option. It is also not applicable to biological treatment undertaken in small installations by householders.
For each of the packaging components the following four aspects are addressed:
biodegradation;
disintegration during biological waste treatment process (i.e. composting);
negative effects on the biological process;
negative effects on the quality of the resulting compost, including the presence of high levels of regulated metals and other substances hazardous to the environment.
ISO 18606:2013 establishes the requirements for packaging suitable for organic recycling.
The procedure for applying ISO 18606:2013 is contained in ISO 18601.

Packaging — Accessible design — Handling and manipulation |
This document provides requirements and recommendations in designing consumer packages, independent of material, to increase accessibility with regard to handling and manipulation. The document considers packaging needs from a wide range of users with diverse human abilities and needs in diverse contexts of use.
Handling and manipulation include human physical abilities like holding, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, sliding, grasping, twisting, tearing and any combination of those actions related to portability, opening, re-closing and taking out contents of packages as well as to storage and disposal. Requirements and recommendations with regard to those abilities are provided for people with special needs including older people and people with disabilities in their handling and manipulation of packages. This document focuses on physical handling and manipulation which necessarily includes the processes of opening and closing specifically detailed in ISO 17480. It applies to reclosable and non-reclosable consumer packaging without using any other mechanical means.
This document is primarily for designers, developers and evaluators of packaging and is also useful for other disciplines.
Handling and manipulation for transportation of packaging is not covered in this standard. It does not apply to products regulated for safety or other reasons (e.g. toxic or dangerous goods and substances, medicinal products, and medical devices).

Packaging — Linear bar code and two-dimensional symbols for product packaging |
ISO 22742:2005 specifies the minimum requirements for the design of labels containing a linear bar code and two-dimensional symbols on product packages to convey data between trading partners; provides guidance for the formatting on the label of data presented in a linear bar code, two-dimensional symbols or human-readable form; provides specific recommendations regarding the choice of linear bar code and 2D symbologies; specifies quality requirements and classes of bar code density, provides specific recommendations regarding 2D symbologies, which allow a broad choice for general use of scanning hardware (e.g. area imagers, linear imagers, single-line laser scanners, and rastering laser scanners); and makes recommendations as to label placement, size and the inclusion of free text and any appropriate graphics.
It supports item identification and supply chain processes, at the product package level, such as inventory control, picking, and point of use.
The purpose of ISO 22742:2005 is to establish the machine-readable (e.g. bar code) and human-readable data content of labels applied to product packages.

Indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services — Land transport of parcels with intermediate transfer |
This document specifies requirements for the provision and operation of indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services for refrigerated parcels which contain temperature-sensitive goods (including foods) in land transportation. It includes all refrigerated delivery service stages from acceptance (receipt) of a chilled or frozen parcel from the delivery service user to its delivery at the designated destination, including intermediate transfer of the refrigerated parcels between refrigerated vehicles or container and via a geographical routing system. This document also includes requirements for resources, operations and communications to delivery service users. It is intended for application by refrigerated delivery service providers.
This document does not cover requirements for:
a) refrigerated parcel delivery via modes of transport such as airplane, ship or train;
b) refrigerated parcels that are transported in ambient temperatures due to the fact that they contain their own refrigeration materials (for example, ice packs, refrigerated foam bricks, dry ice blocks) and are surrounded and enclosed by sealed thermo protective packaging that creates a separate refrigerated climate to that provided within the delivery service. However, these types of refrigerated parcels may be transported through a refrigerated delivery service;
c) direct refrigerated delivery services in which chilled parcels and frozen parcels are collected from the delivery service user and transported directly to a recipient without in-transit transfer;
d) the quality or the measurement of the temperature of the contents of the chilled parcels or frozen parcels being delivered and their pre-point of receipt state, however it does set the requirements for the refrigerated delivery service carrying them;
e) Medical devices and medical equipment and pharmaceuticals might be subject to specific legislation and require specific transport requirements and are therefore, excluded from the scope of this document.
NOTE Resources covered by requirements of this document include facilities, refrigerated vehicles, cold stores, and staff members. This document is not limited to covering specific sizes of vehicles, as long as the performance requirements can be met. Land transport refrigerated vehicles which are conveyed in a ship as roll-on/roll-off vehicles are covered by this document. While this document does not cover requirements directly relating to the quality or safety of the refrigerated parcels being delivered, attention is drawn to specific country legislation that might require a refrigerated delivery service provider to adhere to additional requirements outside of this document, such as monitoring the temperature of the refrigerated parcel itself, or specific requirements regarding the segregation of different types of refrigerated parcel. It is important to note that the contents of refrigerated parcels referenced within this document are not limited to edible or perishable products.
