ISO 3864-2:2004 |
Graphical symbols — Safety colours and safety signs — Part 2: Design principles for product safety labels |
ISO 3864-2:2004 establishes additional principles to ISO 3864-1 for the design of safety labels for products, i.e. any items manufactured and offered for sale in the normal course of commerce, including but not limited to consumer products and industrial equipment. The purpose of a product safety label is to alert persons to a specific hazard and to identify how the hazard can be avoided.
ISO 3864-2:2004 is applicable to all products in all industries where safety-related questions can be posed. However, it is not applicable to safety labels used for chemicals, for the transport of dangerous substances and preparations, and in those sectors subject to legal regulations which differ from certain provisions of this document.
The design principles incorporated in ISO 3864-2:2004 are intended to be used by all ISO Technical Committees and anyone designing product safety labels in the development of product safety label standards for their industries or services.
Statutory or regulatory requirements in some countries may differ from some requirements given in ISO 3864-2:2004. To facilitate international standardization of product safety labels, ISO 3864-2:2004 should be considered when revising regulations.
IMPORTANT -- The colours represented in the electronic file of ISO 3864-2:2004 can be neither viewed on screen nor printed as true representations. Although the copies of ISO 3864-2:2004 printed by ISO have been produced to correspond (with an acceptable tolerance as judged by the naked eye) to the colour requirements, it is not intended that these printed copies be used for colour matching. Instead, refer to the colorimetric and photometric properties specified in ISO 3864-1:2002 and ISO 3864-2:2004. As guidelines, references from colour order systems are provided in ISO 3864-2:2004 for safety colour orange and ISO 3864-1:2002 for other safety colours.

ISO 8843:2005 |
Aircraft — Crimp-removable contacts for electrical connectors — Identification system |
ISO 8843:2005 establishes a system for identifying crimp-removable contacts for electrical connectors. The system specified in this International Standard consists of two colour bands around the external diameter of the crimp barrel and, for thermocouple or high-temperature contacts, of additional letters or of a colour point; the system, however, does not preclude further means being used to identify additional parameters, such as cable size and material.
This contact identification system applies, when specified, to ISO standard contacts. The use of the system is recommended for contacts of both the preferred and non-preferred types. In contacts of the preferred type, the contact active portion and the wire gauge accepted by the contact barrel have the same size. In contacts of the non-preferred type, the size of the active portion of the contact differs from the wire gauge accepted by the crimp barrel.

Equipment for crop protection — Sprayer nozzles — Colour coding for identification |
ISO 10625:2005 specifies the system of colour coding for identification of all types of hydraulic spray nozzles, such as flat and cone nozzles used for the application of crop protection products in agriculture. It is not applicable to nozzles where there is more than one component influencing flow rate, and might not be applicable to liquid fertiliser applications. It allows for flow recognition on small parts in order to avoid any confusion under normal conditions of use.

ISO 3864-1:2002 |
Graphical symbols — Safety colours and safety signs — Part 1: Design principles for safety signs in workplaces and public areas |
ISO 3864-1:2002 establishes the safety identification colours and design principles for safety signs to be used in workplaces and in public areas for the purpose of accident prevention, fire protection, health hazard information and emergency evacuation. It also establishes the basic principles to be applied when developing standards containing safety signs.
ISO 3864-1:2002 is applicable to workplaces and all locations and all sectors where safety-related questions may be posed. However, it is not applicable to the signalling used for guiding rail, road, river, maritime and air traffic and, generally speaking, to those sectors subject to a regulation which may differ.
It is important to note that the colours represented in the electronic file of ISO 3864-1:2002 can be neither viewed on screen nor printed as true representations. Although the copies of ISO 3864-1:2002 printed by ISO have been produced to correspond (with an acceptable tolerance as judged by the naked eye) to the colour requirements, it is not intended that these printed copies be used for colour matching and it is necessary to refer to the colorimetric and photometric properties specified in ISO 3864-1:2002. References are also provided from colour order systems for information.

Graphical symbols — Safety colours and safety signs — Part 4: Colorimetric and photometric properties of safety sign materials |
ISO 3864-4:2011 establishes the colorimetric and photometric requirements and test methods for the colours of safety signs to be used in workplaces and public areas. It provides the colorimetric and photometric specifications for the named safety and contrast colours prescribed in ISO 38641.
The physical requirements that safety signs have to meet are primarily related to daytime colour and normally lit environments. ISO 3864-4:2011 also includes the colorimetric requirements and test methods for safety signs and phosphorescent material which also operate in unlit environments.
ISO 3864-4:2011 is applicable to all locations where safety issues related to people need to be addressed. However, it is not applicable to signalling used for guiding rail, road, river, maritime and air traffic and, generally speaking, to those sectors subject to a regulation that may differ.
The colorimetric and photometric properties of retroreflective safety signs, retroreflective materials combined with fluorescent or phosphorescent materials, or luminous safety signs activated by a radioactive source are not specified in ISO 3864-4:2011.

ISO 7010:2011 |
Graphical symbols — Safety colours and safety signs — Registered safety signs |
ISO 7010:2011 prescribes safety signs for the purposes of accident prevention, fire protection, health hazard information and emergency evacuation.
The shape and colour of each safety sign are according to ISO 3864-1 and the design of the graphical symbols is according to ISO 3864-3.
ISO 7010:2011 is applicable to all locations where safety issues related to people need to be addressed. However, it is not applicable to the signalling used for guiding rail, road, river, maritime and air traffic and, in general, to those sectors subject to a regulation which may differ with regard to certain points of ISO 7010:2011 and of the ISO 3864 series.
ISO 7010:2011 specifies the safety sign originals that may be scaled for reproduction and application purposes.
