ISO Guide 64:2008 Guide for addressing environmental issues in product standards ISO Guide 64:2008 provides guidance on addressing environmental issues in product standards. It is primarily intended for product standards writers. Its purpose is to outline the relationship between the provisions in product standards and the environmental aspects and impacts of the product, to assist in drafting or revising provisions in product standards in order to reduce potential adverse environmental impacts at different stages of the entire product life-cycle, to emphasize that taking into account environmental issues in product standards is a complex process and requires balancing competing priorities, to recommend the use of life-cycle thinking when defining environmental provisions for a product for which a standard is being drafted, and to promote the future development of relevant sector guides for addressing environmental issues in product standards by standards writers, consistent with the principles and approaches of ISO Guide 64:2008. Whenever a new product standard is drafted or an existing product standard is revised or intended to be revised, the project managers and their technical committee chairman/convenors are encouraged to actively promote the application of this Guide. Furthermore, at any stage in the standard development process, experts are encouraged to include environmental issues in their comments. In order to take account of the diversity of products and their specific environmental impacts, as well as the need for relevant environmental knowledge, it is useful for standards writers to involve environmental experts in the work. The project managers and their technical committee chairman/convenors might wish to take into account other relevant, current sector-specific guidance and environmental provisions identified in related standards. Unless they are closely related with environmental issues, ISO Guide 64:2008 does not address issues of occupational health and safety or consumer safety as separate or specific aspects of the product life cycle. Standards writers can find guidance on these issues in other guides.  Published 2008-09 Edition : 2 Number of pages : 36 Technical Committee 01.120 Standardization. ISO/IEC Guide 71:2001 Guidelines for standards developers to address the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities 1.1 This Guide provides guidance to writers of relevant International Standards on how to take into account the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities. Whilst recognizing that some people with very extensive and complex disabilities may have requirements beyond the level addressed in this Guide, a very large number of people have minor impairments which can be easily addressed by relatively small changes of approach in standards, thereby increasing the market for the product or service. This Guide aims to inform, increase understanding and raise awareness about how human abilities impact on the usability of products, services and environments,to outline the relationship between the requirements in standards and the accessibility and usability of products and services, andto raise awareness about the benefits of adopting accessible design principles in terms of a wider market. 1.2 This Guide applies to products, services and environments encountered in all aspects of daily life and intended for the consumer market and the workplace. For the purposes of this document, the term 'products and services' is used to reflect all these purposes. 1.3 This Guide describes a process by which the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities may be considered in the development of standards, provides tables to enable standards developers to relate the relevant clauses of a standard to the factors which should be considered to ensure that all abilities are addressed, offers descriptions of body functions or human abilities and the practical implications of impairment, offers a list of sources that standards developers can use to investigate more detailed and specific guidance materials. 1.4 This Guide provides general guidance. Consideration should be given to the development of additional guides for specific product or service sectors. 1.5 While it is recognized that accessibility and usability are important for both products amd services, international work on services standards is at the preliminary stage. At present, this Guide contains considerably more guidance on products than on services. 1.6 This Guide is also available as a Braille version. ISO 10241-1:2011 Terminological entries in standards — Part 1: General requirements and examples of presentation ISO 10241-1:2011 specifies requirements for the drafting and structuring of terminological entries in standards, exemplified by terminological entries in ISO and IEC documents. Terms and other designations occurring in terminological entries can include letters, numerals, mathematical symbols, typographical signs and syntactic signs (e.g. punctuation marks, hyphens, parentheses, square brackets and other connectors or delimiters), sometimes in character styles (i.e. fonts and bold, italic, bold italic or other style conventions) governed by language-, domain- or subject-specific conventions. Terms can also include standardized symbols (which can be language independent or internationally harmonized, such as symbols for quantities and units as well as graphical symbols) which are under the responsibility of different committees in ISO and IEC. ISO 10241-1:2011 is based on the principles and methods given in ISO 704 and provides rules for both monolingual and multilingual terminological entries in standards and their indexes. ISO 10241-1:2011 is applicable to all standards that contain terminological entries. It does not deal with the administrative procedures nor the technical specifications required by standardizing bodies for the preparation of terminology standards. Since presentation and layout rules by nature are very much tied to the script and to the publishing rules of the standardizing body, they are dealt with only on an abstract level in ISO 10241-1:2011. Examples and rules for a typical layout and presentation in ISO documents are provided for information in Annex A.  Published 2011-04 Edition : 1 Number of pages : 57 Technical Committee 01.020 Terminology (principles and coordination) ; 01.120 Standardization. ISO/IEC TR 19764:2005 will assist the marketplace by providing an objective evaluation method to measure cultural and linguistic adaptability. Although local or national requirements of a legal and regulatory nature may not always be directly relevant in evaluation of products meeting cultural and linguistic adaptability, they sometimes constitute a world-wide challenge for many products or services, now including those which are IT-based. ISO/IEC TR 19764:2005 provides indications reminding that such requirements may have to be met in a national or local profile to complete cultural and linguistic requirements in some countries and hence should be considered in evaluation, as guidance to producers.  Published 2005-11 Edition : 1 Number of pages : 6 Technical Committee 01.120 Standardization. ISO/TR 22100-3:2016 Safety of machinery — Relationship with ISO 12100 — Part 3: Implementation of ergonomic principles in safety standards ISO/TR 22100-3:2016 describes the main ergonomic risk factors influencing the safety of machinery and gives a framework for incorporating them into the design of machines by the integration of important ergonomic principles relating to: - avoiding stressful postures and movements during use of the machine; - designing machines, and more especially hand-held and mobile machines, which can be operated easily; - avoiding as far as possible noise, vibration, thermal effects; NOTE 1: The health effects of noise, vibration and adverse thermal conditions are well-known and are not addressed here. However environmental factors can interact with machine design and risks arising from such influences are addressed in this document. ? avoiding linking the operator's working rhythm to an automatic succession of cycles; ? providing local lighting on or in the machine; NOTE 2: Lighting of the machine or of the surrounding workplace by the machine can have a significant impact on the safety of machine operation and this risk is addressed by this document. - selecting, locating and identifying manual controls (actuators) so that they are clearly visible and identifiable and appropriately marked where necessary; - selecting, designing and locating indicators, dials and visual display units. The approach is based on ISO 12100 with its iterative process to identify significant hazards and reduce risks. Relevant steps of this iterative process have been adapted to include ergonomic principles, and practical guidance is given to apply standards dealing with ergonomics which are relevant for machinery design. ISO/TR 22100-3:2016 is intended for use by standards writers and designers of machinery. It can be used when no relevant C-type standards are available.  Published 2016-10 Edition : 1 Number of pages : 39 Technical Committee 01.120 Standardization.
